Collection: Favias
Favias, belonging to the family Faviidae, are a type of Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral popular in the marine aquarium hobby for their robust nature and striking appearance. These corals are characterized by their brain-like, boulder-like structures, with large, individual polyps often visible on the surface.
Favias come in a variety of vibrant colors, including greens, browns, yellows, and even reds or blues, frequently with contrasting color patterns on their polyps or valleys. They are relatively hardy and can tolerate a range of water conditions, making them suitable for both novice and experienced aquarists.
These corals prefer moderate lighting and water flow conditions. Favias are known for their slow but steady growth, gradually forming substantial and impressive structures in the aquarium. They can benefit from occasional feedings of small meaty foods.
In natural reef settings, Favias contribute significantly to the reef's structural complexity, providing habitats for various marine organisms. Their resilience, coupled with their distinctive, maze-like appearance, makes them a sought-after and visually striking addition to reef aquariums.
